Honkai: Star Rail is an action RPG and gacha video game developed and published by HoYoverse for PC, iOS/Android, and console platforms. “Gacha? RPG? What do all these terms mean?”
No need to worry, I will explain it a bit more.

“RPG” stands for Role-Playing Game and means that the player control one or more characters that are part of the story line. The “Gacha” mechanic is a game model that originates from East-Asia. It is a mechanic where players use in-game currencies to receive random in-game items, such as characters and weapons. The in-game currencies are earned through game play, and some by purchasing it from the game publisher using real-world funds.

Story
When you start the game, you’ll be presented an introducing, cinematic cutscene. Taking place in a futuristic, high-tech looking space ship, you’ll jump right into the scene of Kafka and Silver Wolf, carrying out some sort of secret mission. Their mission seems highly dangerous and significant, as it involves handling a powerful artifact. This artifact later becomes the game’s main mysterious centerpiece, the ‘Stellaron’. Kafka and Silver Wolf appear to be hunting for this Stellaron. The intro cutscene introduces key themes of discovery, power, and the unknown, while setting the stage for your journey as the protagonist.

The next cutscene begins with you opening your eyes and waking up on the space station. Standing nearby is a woman with wavy purple hair—Kafka. She looks calm, almost amused, as she watches you wake up. Her voice sounds soft, but with a certain authority. She starts speaking.
“You’re finally awake. Don’t worry; you’ll understand soon enough.” She doesn’t explain much but speaks to you as if you’re important, though you have no idea why.
Then you notice another person in the room—a younger-looking girl with short, silvery-blue hair and glasses. This is Silver Wolf. She’s leaning casually against a console, tapping away at a holographic screen. Her tone is more playful as she glances at you and says something teasing, like, “Looks like we’ve got a newbie in the game.” She smirks, clearly more relaxed about the whole situation.

As the conversation goes on, you piece together a little of what’s happening. Kafka mentions something called a Stellaron—a mysterious object that she says she’s implanted into you. You don’t really understand what it is, but it sounds important. Kafka speaks calmly, as if this is all part of a plan. Meanwhile, Silver Wolf chimes in with comments that make the situation feel a bit less serious, like it’s all a big game to her. Before you can ask any questions, Kafka and Silver Wolf prepare to leave. Kafka gives you a cryptic remark about your future. “This is your story now. Let’s see where it takes you.” Then, just like that, they’re gone, leaving you alone to figure out what’s happening. The scene ends rapidly, leaving you curious and a little overwhelmed. You weren’t even able to ask their names or tell them yours… … …Wait, what IS your name?!
